We’re going to spread the word for a current contest that’s going on in the model building community! This contest isn’t being run by myself or my dad, but we’re going to participate and offer up a prize of a fun, customized “Home Quarantine Scratch Build Winner” plaque.

The rules are pretty simple:

  1. The structure can be built in any scale and must be built to the basic dimensions shown in the plan – i.e a footprint of 10 scale feet by 20 scale feet etc. The plan is a general suggestion but basically, some form of a shack type building.
  2. The base that the structure is sited on is to be a maximum size of 40 scale feet by 20 scale feet. For example, in 1/4”to the foot scale, the base would be a maximum of 254 mm by 127 mm, while in Ho scale the base would be a maximum of 140 mm by 70 mm. The height of the base is not restricted. Think 3D and think creatively. Scenicing the base is highly encouraged.
  3. The structure can have doors, windows, etc. where you choose to place them. You can also add verandas, chimneys, lean to’s which are attached to the structure, fences, a full interior and any other item that would be attached to that type of building. Also figures, animals , vehicles, trees etc can be included.
  4. If a board walk or veranda is added to the front, it has a maximum width of 6 scale feet. A lean to on any other surface has a max width of 5 feet. It is permissible to do this on on sides. As an example, you could have a board walk on the front, a lean to on one side and a dock of some sort on the other side or back.
  5. There are no restrictions on how you build the structure. It can be kit built, scratchbuilt or kit bashed – it’s up to you.
  6. The time frame for this challenge is one month. I encourage you to use the forum for project threads and final photos.
  7. Once you are done post your finished photo of the structure title finished on our facebook page. If you see a structure you like then let the builder know with a comment.! If you want to vote for them then hit the like button on their final photo (or leave a VOTE comment on the forum) and that will register as a vote for that build. Facebook will help us with the method and count of votes so this one is a popular vote.
