The first step is to paint the figure with a flat gray primer. Once it’s dry I glue it with aleene’s tacky glue to a cork which I can work from on my helping hands.
The next step involves selecting your paint colors so this is where you can become a little bit creative with it to add some character to your person.
Once you have your paint selected I start by painting the face and the shoes, this allows me to work from the lowest layer to the highest layer on the figure.
what’s the face and shoes are dry I work up to the top of the figure to paint the hair or hat if there is a hat, as well as any other features around the head. This is also the time at which I paint the hands.
Once those are dry I go ahead and paint any shirts and jackets that go on the top of the torso, starting with the undershirt and ending with the top layer of a jacket if applicable.
Next owl paint the pants down to the shoe line to cover up any extra paint around the edge of the bottom of the pants with the shoes are oh, and then I’ll follow it up with a belt and buttons on shirts, etc whatever is left over as far as details to finish up.
What’s the entire figures dry I’ll go back over it with a brown weathering chalk or pigment very lightly just to bring out the features and details within the figure.
