Creating copper Lamp-posts and other small detail parts.

Supplies needed:

  • Flat Black Spray Primer (rattlecan)
  • Sharpie brand fine Metallic Bronze marker
  • Americana acrylic craft paint: Pistachio Mint or another brands matching color green.
  • Tichy Trains brand lamp post. Or any similar brand.
  1. Spray your lamp post and the lid of the lamp with a flat black spray can primer.  Do not spray the clear globe pieces. Allow to fully dry before proceeding.
  2. Assemble the lamp accordingly.  It is three easy pieces.
  3. Cover all the black parts with the Sharpie brand fine metallic bronze marker.  Allow to fully dry.
  4. Using the acrylic craft paint by Americana in Pistachio Mint, dry brush lightly over all the bronze parts allowing some of the bronze to show in spots.

That’s it!  Four easy steps to get a unique looking lamp post or any object you want to look like old copper!  A common 18th, 19th and early 20th century materials still seen today in some towns and cities. This also works great for any type of park statue!

NOTE:
Dry brushing is the process of putting paint on the paintbrush then removing most all of it on a paper towel or napkin, and using what very little remaining paint on your object.  This allows minimal coverage and shows the underlying shades used. It is also a great way to highlight edges of any miniature object, or to achieve a peeling paint effect!
