Ahoy, scale modelers! In this video, we’re diving deep into the grimy, barnacle-covered world of waterside buildings! I’ll show you how to weather barnacles using the most advanced modeling technique out there: play sand. Yes, you read that right—straight from the sandbox to your model, for the perfect HO Scale barnacle look!

First up, I slapped some wood glue on the bottom of the pilings and lumber, then gave it that seasoned-by-the-sea look with AK Interactive Slimy Grime Dark for that “I’ve-been-underwater-too-long” green vibe. I then dry brushed everything with Apple Barrel Vanilla Ice Cream (delicious name, right?) to highlight those barnacles and textures.

Oh, and did I mention the hacksaw blade? Yeah, I used that to add some gnarly wood grain to the pilings. Hacksaws aren’t just for cutting things in half, folks—they’re also for making tiny wood grain patterns that make your model look like it’s survived centuries of sea spray.

So grab your sand, slime, and saw blades, and get crusty!
