New Model RR Crossing Stencils from Jake2 min read

HO Scale Customs Listener Mail!

You’ll have a chance to win a set of these stencils for free for the next couple of weeks on our show!

But the details for that are at the end of the video above and in each week’s episode of our Bench Time Model Railroading Podcast: http://hoscalecustoms.com/category/podcast/

New Model RR Crossing Stencils from Jake Johnson!

These are some awesome road paint sign stencils created by our friend and fellow modeler Jake Johnson who was also a guest on our show a few episodes ago! Here’s Jake’s episode: http://hoscalecustoms.com/bench-time-51-jake-johnson-professional-model-builder-model-railroader/

In this video, we apply them to a piece of demo road that we used in our video tutorial on how to paint concrete roads directly on your foam layout base. You can see that video here: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=wfDMgGCgsZg&t=500s

They’re very easy to work with and can certainly be used over and over again throughout your layout on various railroad crossings. The paint was applied directly to the road surface by holding down the stencil and using a dry stippling technique.

This painting technique keeps the paint from creeping out past the edges of the stencil and bleeding past where it should. Plus since it’s a form of dry brushing it dries relatively fast, letting you work over it or weather it fairly soon after you apply it!

How you can win a set of these:

The stencils that we got our hands on to play around with AND TO GIVE OUR LISTENERS AS PRIZES each week are only in HO Scale, but I believe he has been experimenting with them in O as well, so maybe there will be other scales in the future too?!? We’ll all have to wait to see.

To win your own set along with a mini modelers prize pack, you’ll have to listen to our podcast each week for the contest details. We have a new contest each week!

Thanks for the awesome HO Scale railroad crossing stencils Jake, we’re excited to use these as giveaways on some upcoming episodes of the Bench Time Podcast to our weekly contest winners!
