Painting and Adding Detail to Resin Casting Kits
About two weeks ago I spent some time over the course of two nights painting and adding detail to HO Scale resin casting kits from RailroadKits.com.
These are an affordable and awesome little detail that we use to add character to the side of a structure. At least with this specific resin casting.

This was all painted with acrylics, with a base coat of a black spray paint primer. There was some small weathering added with AK interactive rust and streaking grime, but these steps can also be done with dry-brushing and weathering chalks as well. And you can achieve the same results as what is shown.

Even when you see a kit or casting painted in extreme detail, for the most part you can de-construct how the work was done into smaller steps that make it easier to turn your kit or casting into something just like this! It’s all about patience and breaking the job into smaller, simple steps. Layers on layers on layers is the key!
