Here’s a quick and easy tutorial on how to paint wood texture and wood grain on plastic model railroading fence with just a few simple materials.
For this, we used approx five colors of acrylic paint, a base coat of flat black spray paint, and some coarse paintbrushes.
The base coat of flat black spray paint goes on first, and we let it dry overnight first. After that we start to dry brush the different layers of acrylic paint on our fences, never completely covering the layer below it as to allow the color to peek through as we layer each color.
Working dark to light, then swinging back around to add a few small dark highlights to wrap it up!
That’s it! Now we have an awesome fence with some really cool popping wood grains.
