NOTE: Brett is aware he called the dormers gables the entire video. You may ridicule him profusely, or just replace in your mind the word gable for dormer and call it a day.

This is a fun and easy-to-do scratch build project that almost any modeler can do who has scraps laying around from any wood kits they may have made in the past.

What Brett shows you in this video is how he easily made a dormers for his recent kit-bash project from just some leftover scale siding that he has been saving and hoarding just for little projects like this.

Making a dormer on the roof is the perfect way to add some character and style to an otherwise bland roof.

Cutting the walls out is relatively simple and once you know the height of the front wall of the dormer, and the length from the top of the wall to where it joins the roof, you can easily find the remaining length of the triangle. Whammo, you’ve got your side walls for the dormer.

You’ll want to assemble the dormer with the two corner trim pieces (also from scrap from kits) and from there as shown in the video, you can add it to the roof and complete the dormer with it’s own roof!

This was all built with scrap and leftovers from previous kits and this is the sort of thing that can set your build whether it’s a kit, kit-bash, or scratch build apart from other builds like it.
