This is step number 16 of the Foundations of Craftsman Kits series where we are working on the loading dock top of the Yard Office No3 Kit.

For this step, we are going to stain the scale lumber with ink wash, and cut the pieces to length to create a random board length look.

Once the scale lumber is dried, we begin by applying a wood glue layer to the top of the taskboard base, then cutting the random lengths of lumber to create a deck top that looks unique. The ends that hang off the side will be trimmed when the decking is dried.

In the next step, we’ll be gluing the decking to the support structure, and adding it to the building.
