It’s time to cut the sheet of acetate that was supplied with your kit to add the “glass” to your windows.

I haven’t noticed a single method that was the BEST for cutting and applying the acetate to your windows in the kit, and there are a very, very wide range of techniques from almost every model builder. So before all of the model building community chimes in on this one, I know. There are other methods, materials, glues, everything imaginable that you personally do for your windows. I’m just going to cover my “down and dirty” method for getting the acetate into the window.

First, I measure the opening, and then I do a quick overmeasure of about ⅛” on all sides, or ¼” larger overall. This oversized acetate piece will let you adhere the acetate to the wall. Do this for each window or door/window opening that you need to apply glass to.

The acetate can be applied to the wall with tacky glue as we show you in this video, or with wood glue which we’ve used on other builds, along with a multitude of other glues available. Everyone seems to have their favorites.

Before we go ahead and add the window dressings and darkening to these, we let them dry. The next video will cover window dressings.
